In this video, I discuss and explain the reasons I value hypnosis scripts and standardised hypnotherapy protocols and the reasons all hypnotherapists should value them and I explain how we can benefit massively from them.
And I also explain that we’ll definitely not be taken over by apps or talking robots as a result…. Not yet anyway.
Enjoy the video, let me know what you think….

Hi Adam,
I enjoyed this and tend to agree with you. When new therapists start out, it is so useful to begin using Evidence Based Standardised Protocols in that this enables them to gain confidence and also use protocols that work. This generates a ‘settling down’ period where, as long as they deliver correctly, engaging with their clients they can learn more and more what works and what they feel maybe isn’t quite right for them to use. The magic then happens when they know what the protocols are and they can naturally develop their own way of working with clients that also works, as they know the kind of protocols they can use and how to adapt them for their even greater success. Having that help is not a negative thing to do. It is a tool that then spurs them on, without any major disasters, and they can come through as effective and excellent practitioners. There is nothing more wonderful than realising that you can deliver a session without the use of any help, intuitively and effectively.
What I would say, though, is that therapists need to have that ability to engage with their clients and not just use a script without really understanding it or paying attention to the person in front of them. Even at the stage of using the standardised protocols, they need flexibility and a good measure of being intuitive as not every standardised protocol is ideal for each and every client with a similar issue. Awareness, empathy and a true understanding are very important as is the way in which they deliver their suggestions. To read a script without understanding or awareness of the person in front of them using a monotonous delivery is an absolute no no.
